How to Plant Your Seed Paper

Our seed paper covers are made from post consumer paper waste, and are completely compostable! Within each cover is a blend of seeds that blossom into Canadian Wildflowers. These wildflowers are not only beautiful to look at, but also play a key part in supporting the declining bee population.

Here are 4 EASY Steps to plant your seed paper:

• Prepare Your Pot
Fill your pot 2/3 full with good potting soil. You want the pot to be firmly full, but not packed.

• Plant the Paper
Take your seed paper and cover it with soil in the pot. Spread a thin layer of soil over the seed paper, and tamp down gently on top.

• Water During Germination
After planting, give it a good soak. You want the paper and the soil to be nicely damp but not swimming in water. During the first 10 days, keep the paper moist at all times. The water is necessary for germination.

• Care After Germination
Once sprouts appear, continue to keep the paper moist but be careful not to overwater. Once sturdy plants appear, water as needed.

Seed types in the wildflower blend:

  • Bird’s Eye – Annual
  • Clarkia – Annual
  • Black Eyed Susan – Perennial
  • Catchfly – Annual
  • Snapdragon – Annual
  • Sweet Alyssum – Annual

*The optimal time to plant your seed paper is from March-May*

*Please store your seed paper in a dark cool area till planted.*
